Everyone loves
The fool

Their enigmatic powers
Can draw everyone
But the surliest in

They make life look so entertaining
That the audience wishes they were them

The things a fool can get away with
Which ordinary people don’t feel they can
Allows for a vicarious living in a short space of time

Space to tell jokes,
Be a little bit lewd
To dance and sing
Wear what they want
Flirt with pretty ladies
Perform tricks.

AND they get paid for it
AND they get applause
All for doing the things
That most people shouldn’t

It sounds like a fine life really
Quite Idyllic

But in the end
The fool will only ever be seen
As they fool
They know their role
And they know that they’re nothing more
Than other peoples entertainment
